Abstract

In a recently conducted Periodic Survey of Fellows, AAP researchers found that most pediatricians counsel their school-aged patients on bicycle safety and using bike helmets.

Of the pediatricians surveyed, 83.7 percent said they covered the topic of bicycle helmets during safety counseling for children aged 5 years to 12 years, while only 12.7 percent discussed using helmets with the parents of infants younger than 1 year.
