The continuing medical education (CME) workshop, “PREP The Course: An Intensive Review of Pediatrics,” will be held at the Miami Biscayne Bay Marriott March 5-9.

The workshop, which includes lectures, case presentations and discussions, provides: an intensive review of general pediatrics based on the content specifications issued by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP); current information on diagnosis and management of pediatric problems encountered in daily practice; and preparation for the ABP's Program for Maintenance of Certification in Pediatrics secure examination.

Content categories and faculty include:

  • Adolescent Medicine, with David W. Holder, M.D., M.P.H., instructor of pediatrics, Harvard Medical School, Boston;

  • Allergy and Immunology, with Todd A. Mahr, M.D., FAAP, assistant clinical professor of pediatrics, University of Wisconsin Medical School, Madison;

  • Cardiology, with Candace L. Gibbin, M.D., M.S.P.H., FACC, FAAP, assistant clinical professor of pediatrics, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia;

  • Dermatology, with Patricia A. Treadwell, M.D., FAAP, assistant dean of academic affairs and cultural diversity, Indiana School of Medicine, Indianapolis;

  • Endocrinology, with Stephen M. Rosenthal, M.D., professor of pediatrics, University of California San Francisco;

  • Gastrointestinal Disorders, with Michael J. Nowicki, M.D., associate professor of pediatrics, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Miss.;

  • Genetics/Dysmorphology, with G. Bradley Schaefer, M.D., FACMG, FAAP, Omaha Scottish Rite Masonic Professor of Child Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha;

  • Neurology, with Thomas K. Koch, M.D., FAAP, professor of pediatrics and neurology, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Oregon Health and Sciences University, Portland;

  • Renal and Urologic Disorders, with Delbert R. Wigfall, M.D., associate clinical professor of pediatrics, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C.; and

  • Rheumatology, with Andrew H. Eichenfield, M.D., FACR, FAAP, clinical associate professor of pediatrics, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York City.

Participants in the introductory workshop can earn up to 35.5 category 1 credits toward the American Medical Association's Physician's Recognition Award (AMA PRA).
