KnowBullying is an app from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
that offers simple conversation starters for parents who want to discuss bullying
with their children.
Research has shown that spending at least 15 minutes a day talking to children can
help build strong caregiver/child relationships and prevent bullying.
The app features learning strategies to help prevent bullying for children ages 3-6,
7-13 and teens. Additionally, the app includes warning signs to help parents recognize
if their child is engaging in bullying, being bullied or witnessing bullying. There
are reminders for the daily 15-minute conversation, strategies for appropriate use
of social media and text messaging, and a section for educators that offers tips for
preventing bullying in the classroom and supporting children who are being bullied.
If you would like to share a first-hand experience using technology, such as software,
