Dr. Amler, a former AAP Georgia Chapter president, is vice president for government affairs at New York Medical College and dean of the School of Health Sciences and Practice Administration and Institute of Public Health. He was a regional health administrator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and oversaw investigations of outbreaks and chemical exposures, advising the surgeon general and Environmental Protection Agency on policy. Dr. Amler was chief medical officer at the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, where he was committee chair of a task force on children’s environmental health and launched Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Units.
