Jay Morris Arena, M.D., FAAP, inventor of the childproof safety cap and a poison control center pioneer, died Jan. 5 of a heart attack at his Durham, N.C., home. He was 86.
Dr. Arena was 1971-1972 AAP president. He was an AAP Executive Board member from 1965 to 1972 and District IV chairman from 1965 to 1971.
